Historic Village at Allaire
Living history museum inside Allaire State Park on the grounds of the former Howell Iron Works, set in 1836, with craft shops, homes and a general store.

The Historic Village at Allaire occupies the site of the Howell Iron Works, an iron-producing town owned by James P. Allaire. The community was close to self-sufficient, with a blacksmith shop, blast furnace, school, church, boarding house and post office. Today it operates as a nonprofit living history museum presented as it was in 1836.
Visitors find craft shops, historic homes, retail stores, a bakery and a general store. The village holds more than 50 events a year and rents its chapel for weddings. The site lists itself as open year-round and publishes a 2026 events calendar.
Seasonal programs include All Hallows' Eve on Sunday, October 25, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the evening Night of Frights. General daily hours and admission prices are not on the main page, so check the Village Hours page or call 732-919-3500. Event prices come from social media posts and may change.
