A New Jersey state park in Wall that contains Allaire Village, a living history museum set in 1836 on the site of the Howell Iron Works.

Allaire State Park is a New Jersey state park in western Wall Township with a Farmingdale mailing address. Within it sits Allaire Village, a restored industrial community that operated as the Howell Iron Works Co. Iron was shipped to New York City by wagon and steamship, and some of it went into steam engine parts made at a factory owned by the proprietor, James P. Allaire.
The village was largely self-sufficient, with a blacksmith shop, bakery, boarding house, blast furnace, school, church, general store with a post office, and workers' homes. Today it is an interactive living history museum set in 1836 and describes itself as open year-round, closing for forecasted bad weather. Allaire Village is a nonprofit that receives no state funding.
Fall events this year include Night of Frights on Friday and Saturday evenings through October 30, and All Hallows' Eve on Sunday, October 25. Event pricing is set separately, so check the village site before going. Park hours and fees are listed on the state park page.
