Historic Walnford
County-run historic mill village on Crosswicks Creek with a 1773 Waln House, a working gristmill and milling demonstrations on weekends.

Historic Walnford is a 36-acre historic district of fields, woodland and wetlands at the heart of Crosswicks Creek Park. It follows the Waln family over roughly 250 years, from an 18th-century industrial village to a country estate. The Waln House was built in 1773, and the site also has the gristmill, farm buildings and an 1879 carriage house.
Milling demonstrations run Saturdays and Sundays from April through November at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., about 15 minutes each. The Waln House is open March 1 through December 24, and its exhibit My Darling Dearest, on letter writing and the postal service, is free, as is parking.
Park hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. otherwise. Use the official directions through Holmes Mills Road, since the lot is not reachable from the Walnford Road and Hill Road intersection.
