Township of Middletown
Middletown is a large township on Raritan Bay whose communities include Belford, Leonardo, Lincroft, Navesink and Port Monmouth. The Sandy Hook peninsula belongs to the township but is not joined to it by land, and Sandy Hook Light dates to 1764.
The Middletown Village Historic District along Kings Highway includes Christ Church and the Old First Church, and Marlpit Hall was built in 1686. Poricy Park is known for Cretaceous marine fossils, Deep Cut Gardens is a public botanical garden, and Hartshorne Woods Park covers part of the bayside hills. Brookdale Community College is in Lincroft.
